FAQ

I hope that you'll be able to find a lot of the information you might need here on my website, but if you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

  • How much do sessions cost?
    Counselling sessions are currently £65
  • What is your cancellation policy?
If you are ill we can move our session to an online platform if required. If you cancel with less than 7 days notice, the full cost of the session will be charged.
  • Where are you located?
I work out of an office space located at 14-18 Hill St, Edinburgh
  • How long are appointments?
    Each session lasts 50 minutes.
  • Can I pay by card?
No, at the moment I accept payment by bank transfer only.
  • What can I expect at the initial appointment?
The first time we meet I'll invite you to you to tell me your story and why you've decided to come to counselling. We'll speak about how we would work together going forward and you can let me know what it is you're looking for in counselling. Before our first session I'll collect some of your details and ask you to read my standard counselling agreement. You can ask me any questions you like about my polices or the way we might work together. You can then decide whether or not you would like to continue in regular counselling. If you need to take some time to think, that's absolutely fine. If you decide we might not be a good a fit, that's ok too. It's important that you feel it's a good fit between us. You might also like to read more information about the counselling process here.
  • Do you offer remote counselling?
If you require remote counselling for accessibility reasons or in order to make regular attendance possible, I would be happy to discuss online counselling.
  • Do you offer counselling to people under the age of 18?
No, I only offer counselling to adults over the age of 18 in private practice. If you are based in Leith you could try contacting The Junction: http://the-junction.org/services/counselling/ Even if they are not able to help they may be able to point you in the direction of a service that can. Sometimes counselling is also available through schools. If you would prefer to contact a counsellor in private practice you can also use the advance search function on the counselling directory to narrow by age range or "type of client" a counsellor works with. https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/adv-search.html
  • Do you have any evening or weekend appointments available?
I am not able to offer any appointments during the weekend at this time. I currently offer some evening appointments on Mondays - Thursdays. There is usually a wait for these appointments.
